Medical Procedures
All parents must fill in a medical form with all the child's relevant information.
Any form of medication such as Antibiotics, Inhalers, Anaphylactic shock pens are to be placed in a lockable container situated in the room the child is in. Everyone is to be made aware of where this is kept should an incident occur. In such instances, a lengthy discussion will take place with the parent on how to administer the medication e.g. injection.
The Manager will contact our assigned Health Visitor for advice and ask if the Practice Nurse would be available to assist. Also the staff would be trained on how to administer such medication. Parents will need to complete a consent form for Little Cherubs Nursery staff to administer medication. All medication must be clearly named.
A medicine form will be displayed in each unit for each child on medication, which must be signed by the parent to provide the following details:
·Child's Name
·What medication they are taking
·When the medication is to be administered Amount of medication to be given
·Signature of member of staff administering medication
·Signature of member of staff witnessing administering of medication
·Parent's signature.
The member of staff responsible for the care of the particular child must fill in the sheet and have all the above information checked and signed by the Manager or Deputy.
The First Aid Officer is to ensure that all stock is in date and is always filled up. Should anything be out of stock or out of date the items are to be replaced.
All children receiving medication for an illness cannot attend the Nursery for the first 24 hours of their illness.
If your child becomes unwell during the day we will contact you to discuss the situation, which may result in our request for you to collect your child. Children who are suffering the following will be asked to be collected
IMMEDIATELY:
Vomiting
Not to return to Nursery until 24 hours after the last bout.
Diarrhoea
Not to return to Nursery until 24 hours after the last bout.
Conjunctivitis - this is HIGHLY contagious
Please keep children away from the Nursery until completely clear. Eye drop medication will not be given by staff.

Collection of Children
We are aware that some parents whose children will be at Little Cherubs, will be working at various locations and therefore may be unable to collect their children themselves. It may be that they will ask other adults to take their child to and from the Nursery.
The security of your children is of paramount importance and we will ask all parents to give details and descriptions, to include an up to date photograph of any person who will be responsible for their child, so that no one is ever collected by an unauthorised person. We will also ask for specimen signatures of nominated persons, which can be checked by staff in case of doubt. The staff are also allowed to ask for additional identification if they are still in doubt. The nominated person will also be issued with their own password.
A form of authority is given to all parents in this respect upon registering a child at the Nursery.

Policy for walks and outings
It is the policy of Little Cherubs Nursery that all children are given the opportunity to attend walks and outings to the park, staff levels permitting. A written consent form must be obtained from the parents before any child can attend the walk or outing.
All children must wear wrist straps or a full harness whenever they go out. These must be put on to the children before leaving the building. The staff must ensure that the wrist straps and harnesses are accounted for upon their return.
A list of staff and children attending the walk or outing must be given to the Manager. A list of names should also go with the member of staff leading the outing. Regular head counts should be made throughout the trip.
One member of staff should carry a mobile phone in case of accident or incident. They will then be able to contact the Manager, who in turn may need to contact the parent to notify them of the situation.
Any students or temporary staff who attend these outings must never be allowed to take the lead or fall 'behind. They must be in the middle of the group at all times.
