Private nursery school in West Byfleet, Surrey
At Little Cherubs Day Nursery we aim to provide the best day care service with our wide range of excellent facilities and by offering a variety of learning opportunities.
The welfare of your children placed in our care is of paramount importance. As the Nursery becomes their second home, great care is taken to provide a warm, safe and caring environment, in which the individual child feels happy and comfortable.
As a child's early years are the most formative and childhood is a precious time, our objective is to allow each individual child the opportunity to explore and develop at their own pace through a carefully planned and stimulating environment. This enables each child to achieve its own full potential.
Staff encourage children to value and respect one another as individuals with different needs and experiences. They also challenge a child's behaviour or statement, which may discriminate. It is our policy not to use physical force, isolation or to leave a child unsupervised as a form of punishment. However, it may be necessary to take action to prevent injury to either the child , other children, adults or damage to property All incidents will be recorded and the parents informed.
If we need to modify unacceptable behaviour the discipline used is appropriate to the age and stage of development of the child. We gently remove the child from the situation and explain to them why and what has happened, and make appropriate alternative suggestions. If unacceptable or challenging behaviour persists, the Manager will contact and discuss the matter with the parents to determine the best course of action. Under the Children's Act 1989, smacking, slapping or shaking a child is illegal and it is not used as a form of punishment by any member of staff.
The children are encouraged to learn through play. Using a wide variety of material and equipment they will develop physical, intellectual, language, emotional and social skills.
We appreciate that the parents/carers are the children's main educators and we recognise and build on the experiences that the parents/carers and children bring with them from home and their community.
Here at Little Cherubs Nursery we work on a key worker system. Where staff work closely with a group of children and help plan for their child’s development.
All staff that are employed as Head of room hold one or more of the following qualifications required by Ofsted: NNEB, NVQ Level 3, Childcare Diploma. Any unqualified staff will be encouraged to study for one of these qualifications. We also endeavour to send staff on various training schemes. We would like all our staff to hold a valid First Aid Certificate, and training for this is renewed every three years. Staff will also undergo a Criminal Records Bureau Check. From time to time we need to employ temporary staff to ensure we retain our staff ratios within our levels required by Ofsted.
